Dematerialization of Art: Concepts and Its Traces in Contemporary Indian Art

This paper explores the concept of “dematerialization” which was introduced by Lucy Lippard and John Chandler in their work on conceptual art that emerged 1960s. Dematerialization stands for dominance ideas linked with intelligence materiality sensory perception. So, dematerialization is a kind process take lead become primary, loses its traditional status becomes secondary. The notion can be reconsidered these grounds. First all, core idea or concept, no material form. Secondly, artwork not confined to what viewer “looks at” as an object final product. Thus, permits process. gave new vision Indian artists explore feelings thoughts through concepts readymade objects. By interpreting dematerialization, author concludes tendencies share significant similarities, beneficial innovative sight contemporary scene India.
